Located in East Central Indiana, the school boundaries of
the Delaware Community School Corporation include part of the City of Muncie
and the northern four townships in Delaware County, Indiana. There is a diverse
living environment that includes the City of Muncie, many small communities,
rich farmlands in rural areas, multiple sub-divisions, and abundant
recreational opportunities. Patrons can enjoy country living with the
conveniences of a major Indiana city. The school corporation is located close
to several fine educational institutions, including Ball State University, Taylor University, Anderson University, Indiana University at Richmond,
and Indiana Vocational Technical
College.
The incorporated towns of Albany and Eaton, along with the
towns of DeSoto and Shideler, are located within the school district, as well
as the northern part of Muncie, Indiana. In addition, many major housing
sub-divisions are located throughout the school district, with more currently
under development. Major manufacturers are located in Delaware County and the
City of Muncie, providing many job opportunities. Many social and recreational
opportunities are located within the school district and in the county. Ball
State University, as well as other local universities, offer diverse
entertainment during the year. There are many outdoor activities to enjoy
including golf, swimming, fishing, water sports at the Prairie Creek Reservoir,
biking and hiking trails, county parks, soap box derby facilities, organized
men’s and women’s softball, bowling, and other leagues. The Minnetrista
Cultural Center serves the city and county with fine art displays, children’s
and adult programs, musical events, and other social and cultural programs. The
Muncie Children’s Museum is located in downtown Muncie and is one of the finest
