With three elementary schools, Albany Elementary, Eaton Elementary, and Royerton Elementary, Delta Middle School, Delta High School, a central office complex and centralized transportation services facility, the Delaware Community School Corporation works hard to nurture the talents of and build cohesiveness among the young people living in and around four different communities.
All of the Delaware Community Schools have
received performance-based awards for improvement in academics from the Indiana
Department of Education. Royerton Elementary School has
been recognized as a “Four Star” school.
The Delaware Community School Corporation has
long been among the leaders in addressing the needs of the public school
students in Indiana. A comprehensive K-12 program in gifted and talented
education is provided for our students. Programs are offered on both the middle
school and high school level. The Delaware Community School Corporation takes
great pride in the number of Delta High School students identified as National
Merit Scholars and National Merit Finalists, and who continue their post high
school education.
The Delaware Community School Corporation has
in place a very strong vocational education program designed to address the
various talents of our students. Programs are in place at Delta High School and
the Muncie Area Career center. Career exploration and investigation is required
of all students as a part of our comprehensive K-12 career education
curriculum. Delta High School has implemented a successful Technical
Preparation Program for students in our school system.
The Delaware Community School Corporation has
established an Alternative High School for students who have experienced
difficulty in the regular education program. The school is designed to assist
students in the completion of their high school diploma. The program
requirements are the same as the regular high school program. The instructional program will be personalized
for students enrolled in the program.
A quality mix of sound basic education and
co-curricular activities help develop our students into becoming responsible
adults in the community. Academic competition groups from every instructional
level within the school district consistently score well in regional and state
academic events, including capturing individual and state titles. Instrumental
and Choral programs are in place as well as Theater programs. Our middle school
and high school art programs have produced student artists recognized as being
superior in local, regional, state, and national competitions. During past years,
Delta High School athletic programs have captured over 100 I.H.S.A.A.
sectional, regional, and semi-state titles, while twelve sports have been in
the I.H.S.A.A. state finals. Numerous student athletes have been selected for
Indiana athletic and academic all-star teams.
