Welcome to Albany Elementary

Albany Elementary School

Albany Elementary is one of three elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school that serve the Delaware Community School Corporation.  Albany is a kindergarten through fifth grade building, located in the small town of Albany, Indiana.  The current student population of approximately 300 reflects a homogenous population.

The Albany Elementary School family is dedicated to helping every student develop academically, emotionally, and socially in a positive and accepting environment.  We are committed to preparing our students to function as productive citizens who are ready to meet the challenges of an ever-changing diverse society.

Besides the regular classroom teachers, special area teachers provide education in art, music, and physical education.  Additionally, Albany provides support through a learning disabilities teacher, speech/language and hearing specialist, and a school counselor.  All teachers and instructional aids are considered “Highly Qualified” as defined by the No Child Left Behind Act.   It is the goal of Albany Elementary to provide students with quality instruction in all content areas.

Delaware Community School Corporation Lunch Charging Policy

Elementary School – We strongly discourage meal charges, but understand that an occasional emergency may make it necessary.  The school district policy is as follows:

·           All charges must be paid within five days

·         Student may not charge more than 5 meals

·         Parents will be notified and asked for prompt payment after the first charge

·         No ala carte items may be charged

After the fifth lunch charge, the food service department will provide the student with a peanut butter or cheese sandwich and a carton of milk at a cost of $.75.  The alternate meal cost will be added to the student’s debt.  After five days of non-payment, or if steps have not been taken to apply for assistance, or if the parent/guardian has not contacted the food service department to make arrangements, the student’s lunch privileges may be stopped.  The food service manager will monitor the student at meal periods to ensure the student is receiving a lunch provided by the parent.  The principal and the director of food services, may contact the Department of Child Protective Services in the event any student is not being provided a lunch by the parent/guardian.  It is strongly recommended that parents/guardians make meal payments in advance.  Personal checks and cash deposits are accepted daily.  For your convenience, deposits may be made by credit/debit card by setting up an account for your student on www.lunchprepay.com.  You may view your student’s lunch account, and set up a lunch account balance reminder as well.  You may contact Student Services for assistance.  Unpaid meal balances will be turned over to collections after 30 days.
