Principal Joe Schmaltz
Upon meeting the students at Albany during a convocation this spring Mr. Schmaltz said, “I can tell that I am going to really enjoy the students of Albany.” He also went on to say, “I know that it can be said that “Children are the future, but for right now I consider them our PRESENT(s)”.
Mr. Schmaltz began his duties at Albany Elementary after July 1. Mr. Joe Schmaltz was the principal of DeSoto Elementary from the fall of 2000 until its closing in the spring of 2010. Prior to becoming principal at DeSoto, Mr. Schmaltz served as assistant principal at Delta Middle School. Before embarking on his administrative career, Mr. Schmaltz taught and coached in Muncie Community Schools.
