  1. LETTERS/NOTES

  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

Adam Williams – Mr. Williams stated we have 8 days left in the school year.  He appreciates the hard work everyone is putting in to wrap up this school year. He stated it can’t be said enough about how much everyone’s efforts are appreciated.  He stated this year has been crazy and there is not enough words to express gratitude for teachers, staff, and everyone who made it happen that we are able to get through this year and call it a success.  He thanked Mr. Conley for summarizing Mr. Zgunda’s career and time here at DelCom.  He stated it’s invaluable like so many other retirees, specifically those who were highlighted at Eaton tonight.  He stated so much service and contribution and it’s greatly appreciated, they have touched different kids and made their lives better.  He appreciates the passion everyone has.

John Adams – Mr. Adams thanked everyone for coming.  He thanked everyone for their donations and stated it’s amazing how our community steps up and does certain things for our kids and school.  He thanked them for what they do and stated it’s greatly appreciated and makes the job a little bit easier when you get to sit here and take those kinds of donations.  He stated it’s good to hear what’s going on at Eaton and from Mr. Conley for the high school.  He’s glad Prom, Top 20, and concerts are going on.  He stated when you start to hear about those things, you know the end of the year is coming and it’s coming quick.  He stated this year didn’t start out the best and we didn’t really know how it was going to go.  He thanked Mr. Kile for dealing with a lot of the Covid information as well as the other administrators.  He stated we were able to do something he doesn’t think other schools around the country did.  He doesn’t know if they didn’t want to or weren’t allowed to, but we did it and we did it with fine folks who were willing to make the call and it is greatly appreciated.  He hopes the band trip happens.  He wants them to be able to go and enjoy themselves and he’s sure the kids will be excited to do that.  He welcomed Ms. May and wished her the best coming to DelCom.  He’s sure she will fit in with the family and he’s very appreciative we’ve got a good Spanish teacher coming to help our kids.  He stated he’s known Mr. Zgunda since pretty much day one with his affiliation with the football program.  He commented to have a record here of 167-49 is nothing but outstanding and that goes back to several things.  He stated it goes back to knowing the game, coaching up your kids, and hiring good people to coach with you because it’s hard to make all those decisions on your own and he accomplished all those during that time frame.  Mr. Adams stated he doesn’t know the situation Mr. Zgunda is getting into, but he’s good at building programs because he’s done it twice already so he certainly knows how to do it.  He wished him all the best as he moves forward.

Jacob Case – Mr. Case concurred with his fellow board members.  He congratulated all the seniors who are graduating this year.  He wished them the best in their future endeavors.  He’s glad we are able to finish the school year strong and that we were able to stay in session throughout the year.  He thanked staff, teachers, administrators, and everyone who made that happen.  He thanked Mr. Zgunda for his years of service at DelCom and the great record we had with his football leadership.

Lance Engle – Mr. Engle stated he had a chance to go to the band concert last Friday and it was good to see the excitement on the kids’ faces.  He stated great things are happening with band and choir and he really appreciates both leaders.  He congratulated Mr. Zgunda and stated it’s wonderful the great things he’s done for our school.  He wished him luck as he moves on to his other endeavors.  He stated he assumes graduation planning is going a lot better this year than last year and he’s glad we are able to do it and also have the Top 20 Banquet.  He commented what a great honor for those kids and a fantastic end of the school year we are having.  He stated to keep it rolling and May 27th will be here before we know it.

Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for being here.  He stated Mr. Zgunda has put in a lot of time and effort into everything he did with the football program and made it a winning program on and off the field.  He stated Mr. Zgunda was able to do things, get kids to do things, and they were able to pull it off.  He said it’s always exciting to see that, especially as a coach to know that you really got your kids to perform and do things when you don’t know if they can or are able to.  He stated graduation is coming up and that’s exciting.  He’s sure Mr. Conley, like himself, is counting down as this is their last kid to go through it.  He commented Prom was a neat night and it was a joy to watch the kids.  He stated last year it didn’t happen so he’s thankful it could happen.  He stated Top 20 is one of the highlights he knows his wife enjoys and loves to hear the kids get up and do their speeches.  He knows some are nervous, but once they get up there they do just fine.  He’s glad we were able to have it because it’s a huge thing.  He informed everyone Senior Ball is coming up this Saturday and hopes we will go through with no problems and then next thing up is Graduation.  He stated we get seniors through, get them their diplomas, and then we are able to say we’ve accomplished it and got through a school year.  He hopes all sports teams finish strong.
