  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

Adam Williams – Mr. Williams thanked everyone for coming.  He thanked Haley Cross for presenting pictures of the high school cafeteria. He stated he’ll have one joining the high school next year so her efforts are greatly appreciated.  He thanked Ms. Cross for all she’s doing throughout the buildings and appreciates the hard work everyone puts in for inspections because they get tougher and tougher every year.  He appreciates the Health Department for doing their job.  They are upping the standards and food service is answering that call, it is not unnoticed and they should take pride in that.  He thanked Kelly Brown for her service and appreciates what she’s done.  He stated her kindness, above everything else, shines out.  He commented that she cares and it shows in all she’s done.  He appreciates the time and service of everyone leaving for different opportunities.  He welcomed Ms. Brand and Ms. Thomas and thanked them for choosing DelCom.  He stated it’s not only us hiring them, they chose DelCom as a destination.  He appreciates adding quality teachers to this community and thanked them for being part of that. Mr. Williams can’t go anywhere close to explaining how much we appreciate teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week.  We trust our kids in their hands and that’s a huge responsibility.  Everyone in this corporation takes that very seriously, treats them as if they were their own kids, cares so deeply about each and every one of them, and we can never express how much that is appreciated.  He wishes Delta Force the very best with their running endeavors on Saturday.  He was bragging to someone about our club of elementary kids who run the mini.  He stated as one who’s ran a mini, it’s a great thing we’ve started here and he appreciates all those involved in making it happen and the hard work those kids have put into it.

Tyce Stebbins – Mr. Stebbins welcomed Ms. Brand and Ms. Thomas and stated he’s glad to have them on board.  He stated it’s a lot of work coming up with policies for handbooks and he appreciates everyone involved with that.  He stated lately Mr. Mann and Mr. Adams have worked hard on policies for the corporation.  They look over them and then pass them along to the Board members.  He stated reading that stuff can get cumbersome.  Mr. Stebbins thanked Mr. Mann and Mr. Adams for taking the bull by the horns and working on those so we can press forward as a corporation.  He said it’s pretty cool his daughter will be a part of Delta Force and it’s an accomplishment for the kids involved.  He’s always talked about extra-curricular activities and we have a lot of fantastic ones at Delta.  It takes a lot of good teachers, extra-curricular coaches, and volunteers to make that happen.  He stated it looks like Ms. Huddleston has had her hands full with Latchkey.  He knows it’s a busy time and thanked her for the extra work. Mr. Stebbins stated the year is almost over and hopefully everyone finishes on a good note, talks to the kids about finishing strong, staying out of trouble, staying on pace, and keeping that GPA where they want it.  He hopes everyone finishes strong.

Alice Gillis – Ms. Gillis congratulated Matt Huber for receiving a Bell Grant.  She congratulated Ms. Blackburn, thanked her for her hard work, and wished her luck.  She welcomed Ms. Brand and Ms. Thomas.  She congratulated them and hopes they love it here.  She thanked Kelly Brown, wished her luck, and stated she has heard good things at the middle school.  Her relatives have commented that they really like her and she’s sure they will miss her.  Ms. Gillis thanked Ms. Cross for all the work she put into the high school and informed her she heard good things could be coming in Ms. Cross’ direction with rules and regulations.  Ms. Gillis hopes the head guy will change some things, but you never can be too sure of that.

John Adams – Mr. Adams thanked all teachers for Teacher Appreciation Week and stated they are doing a wonderful job.  He and his wife were able to attend the Talent Show a few weeks ago and the kids did an excellent job.  He said we definitely have some talented kids here.  He was impressed they were able to get up in front of their peers because that’s not an easy thing, but it was a great show.  For the Veterans’ Field Dedication Game, he was thrilled and honored he was chosen as the Veteran to be honored that night for his time in the Navy.  He gave a shout-out to Mr. Conley, Mr. Zgunda, and everyone involved with that.  He was very honored and happy to stand out there on behalf of the service men and women.  He really appreciated that.  Mr. Adams hates to see resignations because they have been here and served our kids.  He appreciates Ms. Blackburn and Mr. VanSkyock’s time here and what they’ve brought to our corporation.  He thinks several of them were on the Board when they hired Ms. Brown.  He thanked her for her years of service and what she’s done for our kids and community. He greatly appreciates that.  He welcomed all new hires.  He informed them that one of the things he hears a lot, and that he’s proud of, is the fact that this is a family and they are now part of the DelCom family.  He wishes them nothing but the best in helping to educate our kids.  He wished luck to those that are leaving or making changes.  Mr. Adams agrees with Mr. Stebbins about finishing strong.  We have a couple weeks left to get things done.  He’s glad ISTEP has worked better this year than the past.  He thanked Haley for the presentation.  He stated when they originally saw the pictures of what is was going to look like, it was hard to envision.  He’s sure the kids will enjoy it.

Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for coming.  He congratulated Ms. Brown for going on a journey with family.  He stated it will be a totally different experience for her, but he’s sure she will enjoy it and he will miss her.  He congratulated Ms. Brand and Ms. Thomas and looks forward to great things to come out of their classrooms and teaching our kids.  He informed Ms. Cross he has seen the high school and it looks very nice. He will be pushing for the dark blue color throughout the whole school because it looks really good.  He appreciates the teachers’ time and effort.  He stated they are the forefront with our kids and he appreciates all the work they put in.  He appreciates the administrators for giving teachers guidance and direction with their classrooms and helping them with what they need.  He appreciates all staff and stated we don’t need a certain week to do that, but since it is a certain week, we will go ahead and appreciate all that’s going on right now.  Mr. Fox stated he attended prom and it went well.
