Fifth Grade

Welcome to Grade Five at DeSoto Elementary. Welcome to a year of exciting new educational experiences. This is a year of transition from elementary to middle school. The fifth graders are given more responsibility along with more freedom to make decisions. Students are immediately busy creating their Classroom Constitution, which is a list of five rules for a safe and effective environment.

Fifty grade has many exciting opportunities. We concentrate on:

organizational skills
time management
essential skills in all subject areas that meet or exceed state guidelines
good citizenship instruction
communication skills

Fifth graders participate in many activities such as:

mini economy
camp adventure
science fair
project peace
safety patrol
kindergarten buddy program

Grade five at DeSoto Elementary provides the opportunity for all students to become skillful, successful students.
