SAT Reasoning Test
A college admissions exam. This is the most common standardized test, used to measure certain abilities that are believed to be predictors of academic success. The test includes a writing sample, critical reading and math sections. Each SAT section is scored on a scale of 200-800. The average score on the SAT is considered to be 1520. It is not necessary to wait until you have taken the test to complete and mail your college admission applications. You should code your SAT/ACT application to have your test scores sent directly to the colleges of your choice. Many colleges require that the test scores come from the testing agency and will not accept scores from the student or high school. If you have registered with the NCAA Clearinghouse, you must have your scores sent to them by using the code 9999. The best way to prepare for the SAT is to take a challenging academic course load in high school. Students should take the SAT for the first time in the spring of their junior year. It may be beneficial to enhance the student’s academic profile to take both the SAT and ACT exams.
SAT Scoring:
For each correct answer, 1 point is awarded.
For each incorrect answer, 1 point
is deducted. Answers left blank are
not counted at all but your total will be less than 800 for that area.
