Stan Daugherty: Athletic Director

Stan Daugherty is in his second year as athletic director at Delta High School. He is already making steps toward improving the quality of the Athletic Department's programs.  He brings with him numerous coaching experiences; Stan also brings prior teaching experience.

He coached the boys' basketball team in the 1980's. He has 31 years of coaching experience.  He has coached at five different high schools (Turkey Run, Elwood, Marion-Bennett, Delta, and Hamilton Southeastern) and two colleges (Anderson and Goshen).  He graduated from Alexandria High School in 1972.  He received his bachelor's degree in Physical Education from Taylor University in 1976, and his master's degree in Physical Education from Ball State in 1981.  Stan also received a life license to teach Physical Education and Mathematics, as well as Driver's Education.

The Athletic Director position is a new venture for Mr. Daugherty.  He feels his biggest task at Delta High School is to keep all the facilities and equipment up to date and manage his time in order to be available to help all teams at Delta.  He has developed a Building Foundations character development program for athletes and coaches, as well as established a unique atmosphere at the basketball games this past winter for students with the formation of the Blue Crew.  Students received free shirts and also some incentives for attending games and being loud.  Halftime of every game there was a drawing or giveaway for a few select Blue Crew members.

Daugherty has been married for 34 years to his high school sweetheart, Brenda.  He has three children, Amber, Travis and Trevor.  Even though this job brings about many challenges, Delta High School's Athletic Director Stan Daugherty feels like he can "roll with the punches" in order to tackle these challenges and help Delta continue its winning tradition into the future.
