fields multiple Academic Teams each year. These teams compete in various
events across the state. The teams compete in Spell Bowl
Competitions, Math Competitions, The Brain Game (televised on CBS), Quiz
Bowl, and Super Bowl.

Adult Fitness
Program |

The Adult Fitness Program
is a program at Delta High School that allows anyone from the community
to use the facilities at the high school for recreation and exercise at
no cost. The Adult Fitness Program makes it easier for people of all
ages to stay fit and live healthier lives. Currently, Delta High
School is the only high school in the area that offers a program like
this.

Agriculture Department |

Delta High School is
the only school that has an Agriculture Department in Delaware County.
There are more than 200 students that participate in the Ag Department.
It includes classes such as Greenhouse, Ag Mechanics, Animal Science,
Landscaping, Natural Resources, Small Engines, and Welding.

Alumni Coaches |

|
Delta was home to at
least four high -profile college coaches. The most prominent, Matt
Painter, is the head basketball coach at Purdue University.
Painter was one of ten finalists for National Coach of the Year.
Other coaches include: Billy Lynch, Joey Lynch, and Chandra Stebbins.

Studies Class |

Delta offers a unique
course known as American Studies. This course combines American History
and English 11, offered only to juniors. An honors class, American
Studies is taught thematically rather than sequentially. It is taught by
Mr. Kip Omstead and Mrs. Pat Ervin.

Stan
Daugherty is in his first year as athletic director at Delta High
School. He is already making steps toward improving the quality of the
Athletic Department's programs. He brings with him numerous

Delta ENERGY Dance Team |

The purpose of the Delta
ENERGY Dance Team is to serve as a public relations group, which fosters
an attitude of spirit and pride in Delta High School. In providing
entertainment for sporting and other community events, the group
promotes high self-esteem, fitness, sportsmanship, school spirit and
awareness, and strives for development of character leadership and
individual responsibility among its members.

Band |

Delta Jazz Band is an audition only group that
involves more than 40 musicians. The jazz bands play contests and play a Spring Jazz show at Cornerstone Center for the Arts
in Muncie.

Hinshaw, Principal |

Delta's principal is Dr. Gregory Hinshaw. Dr. Hinshaw came to Delta in
2004 at the age of 29. He has four college degrees, including a
doctorate in education.

hours of dual credit classes. Dual credit classes are courses that give
students a credit for both high school and college.

In 2005, science teacher Mr.
Lance Brand won the Milken Award, a prestigious award that recognizes
outstanding teachers, principals, and other educational professionals.
Mr. Brand is only one of 46 winners in Indiana in the history of the
award.

Many different groups
decorate lockers. It is one of many ways in which students learn
more about each other and the activities they are involved in.
Most clubs and sports have great booster clubs that organize and set up
locker decorations for students.

is a unique twist on a typical school
newspaper in that it is a news magazine rather than a traditional
newspaper. The Deltonian Yearbook is a 184 page full color book
that is distributed before the end of the school year.

Together We Can teaches
students life skills that can be used later in life. The students
are on a Certificate of Completion track. The program, directed by Ms.
Marilee Waugh, helps encourage students to be creative, learn
appropriate work attitudes, follow multi-step directions, and learn the
benefits of group effort.
