1851 State-funded public education led to numerous one-room schoolhouses being built in northeastern Delaware County. Many are still standing today. 1889 Albany erected a new school building 1899
The trustee of Hamilton Township consolidated two outlying schools into
the school at Royerton, using wagons to convey students to the school. 1899
Albany School was enlarged. 1903
New school was built at Royerton at a cost of $17,000. 1905
Some Delaware Township students were sent to Albany. 1907
DeSoto School built at a cost of $12,000, consolidating five district
schools. 1908
New school building was built in Eaton. 1914

Eaton School was enlarged. 1930s
Students in Union Township went to Eaton.
Students in Hamilton Township went to Royerton.
Albany was a separate “School Town,” serving students from Albany,
Delaware Township, and Niles Township. Other
Niles Township students were sent to Eaton and Dunkirk, in Jay County. 1937
New high school was constructed at Royerton. 1964
Five unit (Delaware, Hamilton, Niles, Union, and Albany) plan defeated at
the primary election largely due to a very high negative vote in Albany. 1966
Delaware Metropolitan School District formed without Albany. 1967
High school students of Royerton, DeSoto, and Eaton were transferred to
Royerton, forming Delta High School (“three equal sides”).
Middle school students were at North-Del Middle School at Eaton 1968
Albany joined the Delaware Metropolitan School District 1970
Delaware Metropolitan School District was transformed into the Delaware
Community School Corporation. 1974 New Delta High School (history) opened with Albany students attending. North-Del Middle School students were transferred to Royerton. Albany Middle School remained.

Albany Middle School and North-Del Middle School consolidated as Delta
Middle School in Royerton. 1984
New Delta Middle School opened.
