C.A.P.E. We are extremely fortunate to again have C.A.P.E. here at Eaton. Very few schools were able to keep this worthwhile program; however, our dedicated administration again demonstrated its commitment to the DelCom students by finding a way to make C.A.P.E happen.
C.A.P.E. is a program where selected students have the opportunity to work one-on-one with teachers to improve their academic skills in all subjects. It is offered Monday through Thursday from 2:30-5:00, and there is a bus to provide transportation home if needed. During C.A.P.E, children work with two teachers and two instructional assistants on homework, language arts, math skills, and the Waterford Early Reading Computer Program. A snack is offered along with a brief recess. This program allows students to interact with other students and receive that extra one-on-one help needed. This program is free of charge and is very beneficial for the students at Eaton.
About the Waterford Early Reading Computer ProgramThe Waterford Early Reading Computer Program is based on interactive computer instruction and is designed to help students gain important reading skills at their own pace. The activities in each of the three levels change. The activities include games, exercises, and books that focus on the skills listed below. · Word recognition · Comprehension · Phonological awareness · Letter sound knowledge · Spelling · Writing
How to help your child succeed! 1. Be positive about accomplishments. 2. Schedule time for reading every day. 3. As you read, explain what words mean. 4. READ BOOKS!
