Eaton Elementary Newsletter

Mrs. Kathy Hottinger, Principal                                                                          November 14, 2008

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We had a great turnout for our Family Night/Bingo for Books.  Over 100 people attended.  I saw several students

the next day reading books that they had won.  We hope the adults gathered valuable information about their

child’s education.  We are all in this together.  Thank you for your support!

We still have some working computer monitors that we will give to any families that have a need for one.  Please

contact Mr. Jackson next week if you are interested.  We will be getting rid of them soon.

      Instant Alert

The Delaware Community Schools now has the capability to assist you even more.  Instant Alert will enable the

Delaware Community Schools to contact you through a phone call home or to your cell phone, a text message,

and/or email to inform you when we have a delay, a cancellation, an early-release, or there is any other special

message that you need to receive.  Information was passed out at Parent Teacher Conferences about this free

ervice.  You are already signed up with the home phone number that you supplied to the school.  However, the

information you received will help you add other contacts to the system.  If you have questions or would like to

use our computer lab to get signed up, please call the school.  Every once in a while a test of the system will be

run to make sure that all of the numbers are working correctly.  Be sure to let us know if the numbers you are

using need to change.

TeenServe is Coming to Eaton-Summer 2009

Eden Church has joined forces with TeenServe, a non-profit corporation, to host a one-week work camp in our area from June 29-

July 3.  The six-person crews (at least one adult and five teens) will live at Delta Middle School and spend their days working for

the elderly, disabled, low-income families, or others who cannot complete the work themselves.  This work will include interior and

exterior painting, weatherization, drywall, and construction of steps and wheelchair ramps.  There is no charge to these families for

labor or materials!  For more information contact Eden Church 288-4100.  Please pass this information along to those who might

need this service in Eaton, DeSoto, Royerton, Albany, or Gaston.

THANK YOU

A great big THANK YOU from Mrs. Mealy to the families and friends of Eaton Elementary who supported the magazine sales to

raise funds for the music department.  The effort was outstanding and the proceeds will help us provide needed materials and

equipment.  We would also like to thank those families who sent in donations.  Your support of the music program is greatly

appreciated!

Thanks also to those who supplied lunch for the staff on Parent/Teacher Conference Day.  It was delicious and very convenient for

the staff.  We have the greatest parents!

Congratulations!!

Kiona Casarez and Arionna Fisher were winners in the WIPB coloring contest.  They were invited to be on TV

for the telesale.  We know that they are “Art Smart”

Our first bee card drawing winners of the year were:

Logan Manor, Morgan Wells, Gavin Fisher, Chase Sites, Conner Welton, Aubrey Showalter, Myles Rouse, Katelynn

Webb, Michaela Lambert, Tanner Jackson, Morgan Storie, Josh Jennings, Caitlyn Cooley, Daylan Kingrey, Evan McClain, Lauren

Decker, Levi Swoveland, Morgan Clanin, Alexis Keeley, Connor King, Gabe Rafter, Tyler Gilland, Sarah Krickel, Nick Watters,

Alexa Bailey, Caleb Gillis, Brittany Tuttle, Kira Szarka, Brandy Tuttle, Jaret Smith, Dylan Jones, Logan Clawson, Madison Rafter,

Emma Taylor, Anthony Foster, Taylor Showalter, Lauren Paxson, Chad Hedge, Maddy Szarka, Seth Fox, Kristi Jones, Richie

McDonald, JT Lowe, David Engle, Stelic Anderson, Mallory Kemper, Sam Stapleton, Shanon Stapleton, and Patrick Wolfe.

Students earn bee cards from adults in the building for many positive things.  The more cards they earn, the better their

chances of having their name drawn.  There will be several more drawings during the school year.

Thanks to our student council and Mrs. Addison and to our choir and Mrs. Mealy for another wonderful Veterans’

Day program.  If you haven’t already noticed, the large flag in the fifth grade hallway was flown over the Capitol Building

last year on Veterans’ Day and was presented to Mrs. Addison in recognition of her teaching of patriotism.  Great job!
