Eaton Elementary Fifth Grade

Fifth Grade at Eaton Elementary is an exciting educational experience. To facilitate the transition from elementary to middle school, the children exchange classrooms and teachers for math, reading, science and social studies. This gives the students a variation in teachers and teaching techniques and it trains the fifth graders in responsibility and organizational skills.

ACADEMICS

MATH:

It is imperative that fifth grade students master the basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and division facts. The following are skills and projects that have been developed to enhance the Eaton 5th grade program:

  • F.U.N. Fridays (Figuring Unusual Numbers) is a "hands on" reinforcement of the concepts that have been taught during the previous Monday through Thursday.
  • Computers are incorporated into the curriculum when the creation of graphs and charts is needed.
  • Measurement projects using our own system and the metric system are often displayed throughout the school.

SCIENCE:

Our fifth grade science program utilizes a combination of activities, projects and group discoveries combined with reading, lecture and discussion using the basal text.
