Fourth grade is an exciting year. Fourth graders are quickly approaching the end of their elementary years. They are gaining responsibility and learning organizational skills. Students will be expected to write assignments in their assignment book, complete assigned work, and return homework when due.
FOURTH GRADE CLASSROOM AGREEMENT
- Listen and follow directions, so we can learn many things.
- Work quietly and use your time wisely, so that everyone can finish assigned work on time.
- Respect and be kind to others, so we can get along.
- Be prepared and always try to do your best work.
- Walk inside and outside of the classroom, so that no one will get hurt.
- Put things back where they belong. This will help keep the room neat and clean.
- Use good manners at all times, so that we can get along with others and learn many things.
- Complete your assignment book on a daily basis, so you will know what to do and what is expected of you.

- Pop Your Top Bring a drink and read your favorite book for half an hour each Friday.

* Spelling words are learned in isolation and sentences
* Journal writings
* Story starters/Creative Writing
* Reading Buddies - We write stories weekly and read them to our Kindergartners.
* Cursive writing is practiced and encouraged
* Grammar skills practiced daily
MATH
*Mastery of all basic facts expected (addition, subtraction,
multiplication, and division)
- Manipulatives used to help concept development
- Problem Solving strategies are practiced
- Computers and calculators are used
- Place Value, Money, Time, 1 and 2 digit multiplication, 1 and 2 digit divisors in division, geometry, fractions, measurement, graphs, and decimals are taught.
SOCIAL STUDIES
* History of the state of Indiana
* President reports written in classroom to correlate with portraits drawn in Art class.
* United States are studied in regions.
* Basic economic concepts based on Indiana State Standards.
