SPEECH-LANGUAGE SERVICES

Mrs. Weiseman, our Speech-Language Pathologist, gives hearing screenings/tests to students in grades pre-k, first, fourth, students new to Royerton, and students with known hearing losses. State guidelines are followed and files are maintained in the Speech-Language Office. Medical referrals and communications with appropriate persons, such as the parents, nurse and teacher, enable the hearing needs of Royerton students to be served.

Students exhibiting communication disorders are identified, and individual education plans are written, as appropriate, to meet specific communication needs. Inclusion, resource, and consultation programs are provided as needed. Case conferences, annual case reviews, and educational planning committee meetings determine the plan best suited for individual students. Students with areas of need, such as, speech, language, hearing, auditory processing, voice, cleft palate, fluency, cerebral palsy, stroke, attention deficit disorder (with and without hyperactivity), neurological impairment, learning disabilities, mental handicaps, traumatic brain injury, and other health related disorders are students who are often addressed by Mrs. Weiseman. Her work with students entails the enhancement of communications skills to assist with word knowledge, verbal expression, reading, spelling, and writing development.

Mrs. Weiseman enjoys being a Speech-Language Pathologist at Royerton Elementary School, and invites you to contact her if you have specific questions regarding the area of communication.
