School Health Policies – As a reminder, according to school policy, a child is considered ill and should not be in school if any of the following conditions exist: 

  1. Temperature of 99.6 degrees or over.  Your child must be fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
  2. Eyes are swollen, red, or draining.
  3. Uncontrollable cough.
  4. Head colds of any consequence.
  5. Throat is sore or inflamed.
  6. Ears are draining.
  7. There is evidence of impetigo or persistent skin disorders.
  8. Undiagnosed rash.
  9. Vomiting and/or diarrhea in the past 12 hours.

By following these guidelines, we can hopefully decrease the spread of illnesses in our school.  Thanks!

Midterms – Midterm report cards were sent home today with the students.  If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact your child’s teacher.

Shirt Sale – Attached to the newsletter is information about our shirt sale.  There are now samples in the office to see and they look great!  You can also come in and check out which size will work best for your child.

The Ned Show Convo – The Ned Show came to our school on Thursday and talked with us about the importance of not being a bully along with demonstrating some great yo-yo tricks.  Yo-yos will be sold through next week.  The order form was sent home this week.

National Education Week – Come and join the fun for National Education Week.  Parents are welcome to come and join their child for lunch.  Below is a schedule for our special event:

Mon., Nov.  17th     10:45-11:15            K parents                                                     12:10-12:40            5th grade parents

Tues., Nov. 18th       10:55-11:25           1st grade parents

Wed., Nov. 19th       11:35 to 12:05        2nd grade parents

Thurs., Nov. 20th   11:25-11:55            3rd grade parents

Fri., Nov. 21st         12:00 -12:30           4th grade parents

Lunch is $2.75 for an adult.  We do ask that you come with the exact change.  See you then.

 

Spell Bowl – Good luck to our Spell Bowl Team.  They have their last meet at Randolph Southern next Thursday, November 20th, @ 5:00 p.m.

 

Congratulations to Ian Bretz for his perfect 7 out of 7 words during the spell bowl competition at Cowan Elementary.  Way to go!

 

Special Accommodations – The Delaware Community School Corporation provides reasonable accommodations to persons with disabilities attending school activities.  If you or a guest plan to attend an event at one of our schools and require special accommodations, please call the school at least 48 hours in advance, so the school may have a reasonable opportunity to provide an accommodation.
