BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS
Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for being here. He stated we have about two weeks under our belt so hopefully things are going smoothly for the schools as they are getting along. He stated sports events are kicking in and the girls’ golf team has somehow already had County and he’s not sure how that happened so fast. He commented that is one of the quickest seasons it seems like and they were close to getting 1st so hopefully they can switch order next time at Sectionals. He wished good luck to all other teams as they get going and moving forward in their stuff.
Adam Williams – Mr. Williams thanked everyone for coming. He thanked those who spoke for bringing things to their attention and stated they appreciate feedback so they can look into things further. He stated lots of things are already happening at school; sporting events and marching band was at the Mooresville fair and that was exciting. He stated donations are wonderful and he appreciates those so much. He appreciates the hard work on the SA5s and stated that’s a lot to keep track of and asked Dr. Gullion to inform the team they appreciate that. He stated the State requirements sometimes feel silly, but he appreciates transparency and we do take that seriously and the hard work that goes into that to keep that information available. He stated one of his kids had an allergy symptom so he kept him home for a day just to be smart. He appreciates the people who are doing that with their kids. He stated it was one day of school missed, his kid was fine and it was nothing more contagious than the sniffles from the seasons changing. He’s happy that was the case, but stated a lot of illnesses are contagious so be smart and just take a day. He stated he knows it can be difficult, but it can help out a lot and keep everyone in school.
John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with his fellow board members. He welcomed everyone back and stated it sounds like we’ve had a great start to the new year. He stated you never know how that is going to go with new bus routes, new drivers, and new faces who are a part of the DelCom family so it sounds like things have gone well so far. He gave a shout-out to our building secretaries and stated they are the face of our buildings and are sort of the unsung heroes. He stated he’s not always around and isn’t really in any of the buildings, but he always hears about the ladies up front, the ones greeting you, pointing you in the right direction, and getting things done. He stated they deserve a shout-out. He welcomed all new employees and stated he’s glad they chose DelCom and thanked those who are leaving us as they pursue other things that are best for them and their families. He thanked the Town of Albany for their donation and Mr. Gregg. He stated Mr. Gregg does it every year and it’s very generous, he’s a great guy, great family, and they are thankful he chooses us to donate to every year. He thanked the patrons for coming in and stated he appreciates it. He informed them they will dig into that a little bit further. He asked everyone to keep the Mann family in their thoughts and prayers.
Jacob Case – Mr. Case concurred with his fellow board members. He welcomed everyone back and thinks we’ve had a good week and a half so far and everything seems to be going smoothly. He stated buses seem to be running okay and drop off lines seem to be getting longer every year as more kids join our school system. He hopes everyone keeps going strong.
Lance Engle – Mr. Engle concurred with his fellow board members. He stated the donations from the Town of Albany and Mr. Gregg aren’t small things and he appreciates the thought for that. He gave a shout-out to the band who is going 100 strong this year. He stated that’s the highest amount of students in band in a long time. He stated Mr. Enos and Ms. Crawford have that thing rolling in the right direction and he appreciates their efforts. He stated middle school tennis is crazy with 65 middle school kids and the coaches are doing a great job. He can’t imagine trying to wrangle 65 middle school kids on a tennis court. He stated it’s a great problem to have and a great opportunity for kids to play tennis at that age. He thanked the patrons for coming and stated they will work on that for them. He thanked Mr. Blakely for coming and sharing about ALICE training and our folks doing that to make sure our kids stay safe.
