MINUTES


Present:  Lance Engle, President; Jacob Case, Vice President; John Adams, Secretary; Adam Williams, Member; Trent Fox, Member; Darin Gullion, Assistant Superintendent; and Greg Kile, Superintendent



  1. CALL TO ORDER


At 6:30 p.m. Board President, Lance Engle called the meeting to order.



  1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE 



  1. AMEND AGENDA


A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Adam Williams to amend the agenda, as presented.  The motion was approved 4-0 vote.



  1. MINUTES


A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by John Adams to accept the minutes of the business meeting held on Monday, November 21, 2022.  The motion was approved 4-0 vote.

  1. FINANCE


  1. A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Adam Williams to accept the list of vouchers, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the following (items 1-4):

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the permission to pay year-end expenses from the 2022 budget and to balance all accounts, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the 2022 Fund 300 Reduction of Appropriations, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the Trust Indiana Agreement, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the Teacher Appreciation Grant, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. Dr. Gullion gave a Monthly Finance Review.

  1. Retirement of Angela Shepherd, Food Service Cook at Albany Elementary School, effective May 25, 2023.


The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the following (items 2-4):


  1. Resignation of Rusti Spiker, Instructional Assistant at Eaton Elementary School, effective December 20, 2022.


  1. Resignation of Makenzie Emerson, Latchkey Aide, effective           December 12, 2022.


  1. Resignation of Brylee Rose, Latchkey Aide, effective December 9, 2022.


The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the following (items 5-7):


  1. Recommendation to employ Barbara Stader as a Food Service Cook at Delta High School effective December 6, 2022.


  1. Recommendation to employ Dawn Greenwell as a Custodian at Delta High School effective immediately, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.


  1. Recommendation to employ Ryder Riggin as a Latchkey Aide effective immediately, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.


The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. Extra-Curricular


A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the following (items 1-6)


  1. Recommendation to employ Billy Lynch and Adlai Chester as Assistant Boys’ Basketball Coaches (split position) at Delta High School effective for the 2022-23 school year.


  1. Recommendation to employ Scott Baker as an Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at Delta High School effective for the 2022-23 school year, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.


  1. Recommendation to employ Kim Hewitt as a Choir Accompanist at Delta High School effective for the 2022-23 school year, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.


  1. Recommendation to appoint Lea Daugherty as a Volunteer Assistant Track Coach at Delta High School effective for the 2022-23 school year, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.


  1. Recommendation to appoint Spencer Matheny as a Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach at Delta High School effective for the 2022-23 school year, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.


  1. Recommendation to appoint Tyler Gilland as a Volunteer Assistant Baseball Coach at Delta High School effective for the 2022-23 school year, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.


The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. Conference Requests/Field Trips


A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the following (items 1-2):


  1. Chyenne Wilder, Jessica Blakely, Kendra Hirons, Christy Meyers, Judy Reynolds, Nakkia Patrick, and Amanda Lewis request permission to attend the Reading Recovery Conference to be held from January 28, 2023 through January 31, 2023 at the Convention Center in Columbus, OH.


  1. Amy Larrabee requests permission to attend the WVEC Title III Consortium Meeting to be held on December 1, 2022 at the Beck Ag Center in West Lafayette, IN.


The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the DHS New Course Request, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. Superintendent Kile informed the Board about the following fundraisers:


  1. Andy Lewman, Delta Lady Eagles Basketball, requests permission to sell apparel from December 1, 2022 through December 21, 2022, as presented.  Proceeds go towards the DelCom Foundation.

  1. Use Of Facilities:

  1. Donations: 

A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the following (items 1-4):

  1. Request for Delta Middle School to accept a donation in the amount of $32.00 from the Blackbaud Giving Fund, as presented.


  1. Request for Delta Middle School to accept a donation in the amount of $100.00 from Tim and Kathy Hale, as presented.


  1. Request for Eaton Elementary School to accept a donation in the amount of $200.00 from the Cowgill family, as presented.


  1. Request for Delta High School to accept a donation in the amount of $1,000.00 from Bill Peckinpaugh, as presented.


The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS


Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for being here.  He thanked Mr. Parrott for updating them about what’s going on at Albany and stated it’s always nice to hear those things.  He wished all the elementary buildings good luck with their Christmas Programs and is glad those programs will be more local and easier to get to.  He stated the holiday season is coming up and hopes the kids don’t forget they still have to finish the school year out strong.  He hopes it goes well as we get through these last few weeks.


Adam Williams – Mr. Williams thanked everyone for coming.  He thanked Mr. Parrott for bringing up Albany and stated it’s phenomenal to see what they do as a community.  He stated some of the things Mr. Parrott highlighted and Mr. Williams experiences with band being present for some of those functions, it has opened up what all that community is about.  He commented they are a model for a lot of small towns and he appreciates them taking care of each other and the way they celebrate each other.  He stated it’s a neat environment and doesn’t go unnoticed.  He stated he is looking forward to An Albany Christmas and he appreciates what they do.  He wished Ms. Shepherd well on her retirement and welcomed all new employees.  He thanked everyone who volunteers and steps up for extra-curricular activities.  He stated they are invaluable to the school community and offer kids different outlets and experiences and he greatly appreciates it.  He thanked everyone for their donations and stated some of these are targeted at this time and well thought out and it’s wonderful the way our community gives back to the corporation in different ways.   


John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with his fellow board members.  He gave a shout-out to Mr. Marshall whose birthday is today and welcomed him to the 50’s Club.  He thanked Mr. Parrott for coming and updating them.  He stated what happens this time of year up in Albany and what they do to help families is well noted.  He thanked Mr. Parrott for helping any way he can because it means a lot.  He wished Ms. Shepherd the best on her retirement and thanked her for being at DelCom.  He welcomed all new employees and is glad they chose us because it’s a great place to be.  He thanked everyone for their donations and stated it doesn’t matter what it is or what they are doing, he greatly appreciates it.  He commented he did notice as well that some are specific in nature during this time of year and that’s great.  He stated we are getting close to the end of the first semester and wished everyone well in trying to get finished up.  


Jacob Case – Mr. Case concurred with his fellow board members.  He thanked Mr. Parrott for coming and keeping them updated on what’s going on at Albany.  He agrees with everyone on Albany being a good community.  He stated there’s a lot that happens there that people don’t realize with all the people who step up.  He stated winter sports are starting off strong.  He wished the coaches and athletes a great season.  He hopes everyone stays healthy and we can finish out the first semester and hopes everyone has a great holiday.  


Lance Engle – Mr. Engle concurred with his fellow board members.  He gave a shout-out to Secret Families and thanked all the students who volunteered their time.  He stated it’s a great day for our community and a lot of our students donate their time either by shopping, wrapping, or passing out trees.  He stated it’s great to see pictures of them smiling, having fun, and doing good things for our community. He stated he appreciates it very much.  



  1. FUTURE MEETINGS


  1. A regular meeting for the Board of School Trustees is scheduled for Monday, December 19, 2022 at 5:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.



  1. ADJOURNMENT


A motion was made by Trent Fox and seconded by Jacob Case and Board President, Lance Engle, adjourned the meeting at 7:00 p.m.
