MINUTES


Present:  Lance Engle, President; Valerie Alexander, Vice President; Jacob Case, Secretary; John Adams, Member; Dave Grasso, Member; Darin Gullion, Assistant Superintendent; and Greg Kile, Superintendent



  1. CALL TO ORDER


At 6:30 p.m. Board President, Lance Engle called the meeting to order.



  1. PLEDGE OF ALLEGIANCE (Recess Meeting)


President Engle recessed the regular business meeting to hold a Public Hearing.  Dr. Gullion, Assistant Superintendent, explained the purpose of the hearing and asked for public comments on the following:


2025 Budgets

2025-2027 Capital Projects Plan

2025-2036 Bus Replacement Plan


No comments were received.


A motion was made by John Adams and seconded by Valerie Alexander to close the hearing.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


President Engle closed the hearing and resumed the regular business meeting.

A motion was made by Jacob Case and seconded by Valerie Alexander to amend the agenda, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

A motion was made by Dave Grasso and seconded by John Adams to approve the following (items a-b):

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Jacob Case and seconded by Valerie Alexander to approve the DHS Long Term Subs, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. A motion was made by Jacob Case and seconded by John Adams to approve the Homebound Service Agreements, as presented.  The motion was approved 5-0 vote.


  1. Superintendent Kile informed the Board about the following fundraisers (information only):


  1. Morgan Jones, DMS Student Council/DJHS, requests permission to hold a dance on September 13, 2024, as presented.  Proceeds go towards Student Council and DJHS.


  1. Morgan Jones, DMS Student Council/DJHS, requests permission to hold hat days from September 2024 through April 2025, as presented.  Proceeds go towards Teacher Appreciation Week.


  1. Whitney Freeman and Julie Blakely, DHS Student Council, request permission to sell Homecoming Dance tickets, as presented.  Proceeds go towards Student Council ECA.

  1. Donations:


A motion was made by Dave Grasso and seconded by John Adams to approve the following (items 1-5):


  1. Request for Eaton Elementary School to accept a donation in the amount of $500.00 from the Eaton Alumni Association, as presented.

  2. Request for Albany Elementary School to accept a donation in the amount of $600.00 from H.O.P.E., as presented.

  3. Request for Eaton Elementary to accept a donation in the amount of $520.00 from H.O.P.E., as presented.

  4. Request for Royerton Elementary School to accept a donation in the amount of $1,000.00 from H.O.P.E., as presented.

  5. Request for Delta High School to accept a donation in the amount of $1,000.00 from Alexander and Taylor Wagner, as presented.

The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Jacob Case and seconded by John Adams to approve the request for the Food Service Department to surplus items, as presented. The motion was approved 5-0 vote.

  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

 

Dave Grasso – Dr. Grasso thanked Dr. Gullion for the work on the budget and for the help from Mr. Brand on the computer.


John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with Dr. Grasso and for the hours that Dr. Gullion spends on the budget. He welcomed all new hires and thanked everyone not returning for everything they poured into the kids. He greatly appreciates all of the donations and believes that throughout his time as a board member, several thousand dollars have been donated. He doesn’t know Alexander and Taylor Wagner or H.O.P.E but greatly appreciates them thinking of our schools and donating to them.


Jacob Case – Mr. Case thanked Dr. Gullion and his staff for all of the work on the budget. He hopes everyone had a great holiday weekend. He commented sports and activities are all gearing up and hopes everyone stays safe throughout the school year.


Valerie Alexander – Ms. Alexander concurred with her fellow board members on their comments. She is excited to see sports in full swing. She thinks all the new signage is a way to keep our students safer. She stated she went to Culvers with some of the students and had a really fun time and has some great ideas to share. She is excited to see all of the staff back and the conferences that they attend to higher their learning. She thanked Dr. Gullion for all of his hard work and those that he collaborates with.


Lance Engle – Mr. Engle thanked everyone who donated to our kids and stated it helps them out financially. He commented things are ramping up at the schools and mentioned the upcoming football game on Friday. He is excited about that. He stated the band is gearing up for competitions and he is excited to see what they do this year. He thanked Dr. Gullion for all the hard work that he puts into the budget.

  1. FUTURE MEETINGS


  1. A regular meeting for the Board of School Trustees is scheduled for Monday, September 16, 2024 at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.



  1. ADJOURNMENT


A motion was made by Jacob Case and seconded by Valerie Alexander and Board President, Lance Engle, adjourned the meeting at 7:01 p.m.
