Present:  Valerie Alexander, President; Jacob Case, Vice President; John Adams, Secretary; Lance Engle, Member; Darin Gullion, Assistant Superintendent; and Greg Kile, Superintendent

  1. CALL TO ORDER

 

At 6:33 p.m. Board President, Valerie Alexander called the meeting to order.

A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by John Adams to amend the agenda, as presented.  The motion was approved 4-0 vote.

  1. Recommendation to appoint Easton Bell as a Volunteer Boys’ Soccer Coach at Delta High School effective for the 2025-26 school year.

 

  1. Recommendation to appoint Robert Williams as a Volunteer Assistant 8th Grade Football Coach at Delta Middle School effective for the 2025-26 school year, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.

 

  1. Recommendation to appoint David Edwards as a Volunteer Assistant Football Coach at Delta High School effective for the 2025-26 school year.

 

  1. Recommendation to appoint James Thompson as a Volunteer Assistant Football Coach at Delta High School effective for the 2025-26 school year.
  2. Recommendation to appoint Shayla Ross as a Volunteer Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach at Delta High School effective for the 2025-26 school year, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.

  1. Conference Requests/Field Trips

 

  1. Greg Kile and Darin Gullion request permission to attend the ISBA Conference to be held from September 14, 2025 through   September 16, 2025 at the Convention Center in Indianapolis, IN.

 

  1. Chyenne Wilder requests permission to attend the IASP Fall Conference to be held from November 23, 2025 through November 25, 2025 at the JW Marriott in Indianapolis, IN.

 

  1. Use of Facilities

 

  1. Alison Jackson, Cardinal Swim Club, requests permission to use the Delta High School pool from September 1, 2025 through August 31, 2026 from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. to hold practice, as presented.

 

  1. Elana Camp, DHS Choir, requests permission to use the Delta High School gymnasium and choir room on September 13, 2025 from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. to hold All-State Choir Auditions, as presented.

 

  1. Trace Fritz, Delta Baseball Club, requests permission to use the Royerton Elementary School gymnasium from October 15, 2025 through           March 25, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to hold baseball, as presented.

 

  1. Trace Fritz, DGSA, requests permission to use the Royerton Elementary School gymnasium from October 16, 2025 through March 26, 2025 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to hold softball, as presented.

 

The motion was approved 4-0 vote.

B.  Dr. Gullion, Assistant Superintendent, gave a Budget Preview.  A motion was made by John Adams and seconded by Jacob Case to approve permission to advertise 2026 budget.  The motion was approved 4-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the recommendation to employ Mallory Hawk as a Teacher at Delta Middle School effective immediately, pending successful completion of all pre-employment testing.  The motion was approved 4-0 vote.

  1. A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the recommendation for termination, as presented.  The motion was approved 4-0 vote.

 

  1. Superintendent Kile informed the Board about the following fundraisers:

 

  1. Kylie Johnson, Delta Volleyball, requests permission to hold a volleyball fundraiser from August 8, 2025 through               August 31, 2025, as presented.  Proceeds go towards Boosters.

 

  1. Adrianne Wingler, RES Music, requests permission to hold a fundraiser from September 2, 2025 through October 2, 2025, as presented.  Proceeds go towards the Supertones account.

 

  1. Kylie Johnson, Delta Volleyball, requests permission to hold Basket Bingo on September 25, 2025, as presented.  Proceeds go towards Boosters.



 

  1. Assistant Superintendent

 

  1. Donations:

 

A motion was made by John Adams and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the following (items 1-3):

 

  1. Request for Eaton Elementary School to accept a donation in the amount of $600.00 from the Eaton Alumni Association, as presented.
  2. Request for Eaton Elementary School to accept a donation of school supplies from Dean Miers, as presented.
  3. Request for Royerton Elementary School to accept a donation of a popcorn machine, ice maker, and refrigerator from the RES PTO, as presented.

The motion was approved 4-0 vote.

b.   A motion was made by Lance Engle and seconded by Jacob Case to approve the request for the IT Department to surplus items, as presented.  The motion was approved 4-0 vote.

  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

 

Lance Engle – Mr. Engle thanked everyone for being here.  He commented it’s nice to be back at Albany to see all the changes.  He thanked Mr. Parrott for hosting.  He stated it’s a big week for athletics and wished all teams good luck with their seasons.  He thanked Dr. Gullion for his work on the budget and commented he knows it’s not easy and there’s a lot of work behind it.  

 

John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with his fellow board member.  He thanked Mr. Parrott for hosting and stated he’s looking forward to the completion of the building.  He commented a lot of people will be pleased and satisfied once it’s done.  He thanked Dr. Gullion for the budget review and for taking care of the finances.  He welcomed Ms. Hawk and thinks she’ll enjoy being a part of the DelCom family.  He thanked everyone for their donations and what they do for our schools.  He wished good luck to all sports teams this season and he’s looking forward to catching some games.  

 

Jacob Case – Mr. Case concurred with his fellow board members.  He thanked Mr. Parrott for hosting and Dr. Gullion for his budget review. He hopes everyone has had a great first few weeks and started off strong.  He wished all athletic teams’ good luck this season.  

 

Valerie Alexander – Ms. Alexander welcomed Ms. Hawk and knows she will love Delta Middle School.  She stated it’s a great place and they have a lot of good teams.  She stated she’s very happy to see the progress at Albany and it will be great once it’s completed.  She’s happy we are off to a great start and she’s anxious to see what we do in the next month or so with sports.  



 

  1. FUTURE MEETINGS

 

  1. Public Hearings on Bargaining and Budget are scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025 at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.

 

  1. A regular meeting for the Board of School Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, September 2, 2025 immediately following the Public Hearings.



 

  1. ADJOURNMENT

 

A motion was made by Jacob Case and seconded by Lance Engle and Board President, Valerie Alexander, adjourned the meeting at 6:56 p.m.
