He stated he’s doing teacher evaluations and they are discussing NWEA data.  The teachers are saying how this is driving their instruction and are using this information to help push each individual student as opposed to just a group of students.  He informed everyone they are having conversations regarding higher kids, who have very minimal growth, and how they can use NWEA to push those kids further. He’s very proud of that.  He informed everyone his kindergarten numbers are up compared to years past and that’s a great thing. He stated right now they are at 46 kindergarteners so their numbers are looking good and he’s pleased about that.  He stated this has been a fantastic school year for him. It is almost a year to the day he was hired and he’s thankful to be here. Mr. Blakely thanked everyone for giving him the opportunity to work here.

Doug Marshall, Principal at Delta Middle School, stated he’s very proud of the boys’ and girls’ track team for both being county champs this season.  He informed everyone the boys were runners up at conference and the girls were conference champs for the first time ever in Delta Middle School history.  He is very proud of them. He informed Mr. Marshall he’s been watching his track kids and thinks he has some good future runners.  He welcomed Mr. Enos and stated he’s glad to have him here. He congratulated Mr. Gates on the Technology Technician position. He stated Mr. Gard has some coaching to do and Mr. Gates better bring his track shoes.  Mr. Prince asked Ms. Knuckles if there will be ESPN coverage at the volleyball camp they are attending this summer since they are going up against Ohio State. He’s hoping to see good results from that. He informed Mr. Kile he was astounded going through the curriculum maps.  He stated a phenomenal amount of work went into putting that together. It shows great commitment and dedication and he appreciates that. Mr. Prince stated the donations are always good to get.

Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for coming.   He stated the discussion tonight on testing is all good and part of how we learn, grow, and how that dynamic works to make us all better at what we do.  He stated at work he’s been going through leadership type training and you have to have these kinds of discussions. He stated some are easy and some are hard. As long as you are learning, growing along the process, and bringing people along with you; you are starting to do the right things.  He stated you are also starting to make people grow and mature and that’s what we are trying to do with all these young people. We are trying to get them to grow and mature and become young adults so they can be successful out in the real world.

Alice Gillis – Ms. Gillis stated she attended the Top 20 Reception at the high school and was really impressed.  She commented it was well done and thanked Ms. Fox, Dr. Brand, Dr. Gullion, and Mr. Conley. She said it showed top notch kids and you could tell by their speeches, some were really comfortable and had a lot of background.  She congratulated Jackson Boyle and Cade Orchard. She’s known Jackson since he started doing science fairs way back in the day and has been through every State Science Fair with him. She stated it has always been his goal to get to the National Science Fair, it’s difficult to do and she’s very impressed with his work.  Ms. Gillis congratulated Mr. Cleland on his tennis win. She liked hearing about the 46 incoming kindergarteners at Eaton and congratulated the middle school track team on a job well done. She’s glad to have Mr. Gates and Mr. Enos on board and wished them luck. She informed Mr. Kile she was impressed with the curriculum maps.

John Adams – Mr. Adams thanked everyone for coming.  He and Mr. Fox have had private conversations about NWEA and Mr. Adams understands Mr. Fox’s point of view, but he looks at it in a little different light.  That doesn’t mean everyone can’t agree, move on, and do what they need to do that’s best for the kids. He stated a lot of times they don’t get to have educational conversations and it’s good to have those.  He thanked everyone for their input during the discussion. He thanked everyone who donated because it means a lot for us to get those. He welcomed all new employees and is looking forward to what they will bring to our school corporation.  He is very thankful they picked our corporation. He stated it doesn’t get much better than middle school track kids breaking conference records. He hopes to see those kids breaking records in the future and furthering their career. Mr. Adams commented what Jackson Boyle and Cade Orchard are doing is way over most people’s level at this point.  He commends them for their passion. He stated they’ve had some guidance from our teaching staff over the years to get them ready. Well done to teachers who have affected their life at some point and who kept them excited to do what they are doing, it’s good to see. He stated it was great to end the meeting with a good note about one of our bus drivers.  He gave a shout-out to Amanda Frontz on a job well done and for helping mentor our kids. Mr. Adams stated if you are involved in our school corporation, you’re touching our kids in some way and everyone’s important.
