BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS
John Adams – Mr. Adams welcomed everyone back. He stated in a few days we will have kids in the buildings. He thanked all administrators, custodians, bus drivers, and everyone who is gearing up to make school happen. He can’t thank everyone enough for all their efforts and stated it’s greatly appreciated. He is glad we are going back to school and like everyone else, wants to do it in the safest way possible. He stated there have been a few people who have been asked to step up and make a change in their normal routine. He thanked them and stated it will make a difference and means a lot. He welcomed Mr. Ashcraft, Mrs. Miskinis, and Mr. Lagpacan. He stated they are coming to the best school corporation around. He stated it’s a great place and thinks they will do well here. He commented they have great people around them and to use that for what it’s worth. He thanked everyone who resigned for their time and the time they’ve spent with our kids. He thanked everyone for their donations and stated it’s amazing that a certain class or people in the community donate to our schools in one way or another and he greatly appreciates it.
Jacob Case – Mr. Case concurred with Mr. Adams. He welcomed all new hires to the DelCom family. He thanked everyone who resigned for their time and stated no matter what they did in the corporation, they’ve touched kids’ lives and affected how they grow up. He thanked everyone for their donations. He stated on Thursday we will have everyone back in school and he hopes all goes well with a safe return. He thanked all teachers who decided to help with virtual learning this year because it will be a new challenge and a lot different.
Lance Engle – Mr. Engle welcomed all new teachers and staff to a great school corporation. He thanked everyone for all their efforts the past few weeks. He stated he’s sure it’s been crazy for administration and teachers getting things sorted out where everyone will be and what they will be doing. He stated it sounds like things are falling into place and hopes we’ll get school started off right. He stated it will be different, but the kids will adapt and it’s up to us and the staff to adapt. He wishes nothing but luck and lots of prayers moving forward.
Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for being here. He stated we are getting close and he’s excited to get there. He hopes we can show we’ve done a lot of preparation and gotten things ready in the buildings. He guarantees the kids are ready to go back because they have been home longer than they’ve ever been. He stated they’re adaptable, they’ll adjust, and they’ll come out on top. He stated we just have to help them along the way and make that happen for them so they know we care about them. He stated we’re going to keep doing everything we can to keep them safe, no guarantees obviously, but that’s just part of what we’re going through. He stated they are looking forward to being in person as long as they can and are going to relish those moments and take everything in. He wished good luck to all extra-curricular activities happening right now and hopes they will continue.
Adam Williams – Mr. Williams stated there are only so many different ways to say they don’t know what this is going to look like. He stated everyone has done an incredible job of planning and doing their best to make this work. He stated this has been an ongoing task with the rules changing by the day sometimes. He stated as a Board, they understand a fraction of what everyone’s going through and they greatly respect what everyone has done to get us to this point. He stated to pass that along to everyone you work with because this is something way outside of normal. He commented they don’t teach Pandemic 101 when you’re getting your degree the last time he checked. He assumes it’s going to be required from here on out, but it’s not been brought before. He really appreciates the great group of people in this corporation who care about our kids. He stated it shows in all they do and wished the best for students, parents, teachers, staff, and everyone involved as we get ready to launch this year.
