The DelCom Foundation was established in 2011 for the purpose of supporting, enhancing, and enabling educational opportunities for students within all five schools of the Delaware Community School Corporation. The Foundation exists as a 501(c)(3) organization, working independently from the Delaware Community School Corporation Board of Education. The DelCom Foundation Board of Directors consists of community volunteers united by a shared vision to engage stakeholders throughout our community in fiscal support for our schools.
Delaware Community School Corporation is a rural school district in East Central Indiana serving approximately 2,660 students in grades K-12. DelCom has recently expanded blended learning throughout the district, diversifying to include traditional and digital sources of content, and going through the process of mapping their own unique curriculum. Through these efforts, DelCom aims to raise students’ achievement, facilitate appropriate academic growth for students, and increase students’ level of engagement in school as they work hard over time to accomplish challenging learning objectives. With deeper, more rigorous learning and embracing the struggle that comes with it, we believe DelCom students will be vastly more prepared for the 21st Century world of work.
The DelCom Educational Foundation supports this work through student scholarships, resources for DelCom’s classroom teachers, and playing a role as a matching grant partner for Delaware Community School Corporation. In 2018, the Foundation matched a $10,000 technology grant, turning it into $20,000. In 2019, the Foundation is matching a $25,000 fine arts grant request up to $12,500. The Foundation's support makes Delaware Community School Corporation a more competitive grant applicant and significantly increases the impact of awarded grants. There is not a single student or staff member throughout our school community who has not been positively impacted by the work of the Foundation, work that only generous donors can make possible.
