COMMUNICATIONS FROM THE FLOOR
Scott Blakely, Principal at Eaton Elementary School, stated he has a recommendation for the Math Interventionist position that was approved at the last board meeting. He stated they had several fine candidates, but Ms. Barnet rose to the top. She has a lot of experience and is exactly what they are needing. She comes from Muncie schools as a Data Coach and Math/Reading Interventionist and has most recently been at WesDel. He stated they are very lucky to have someone with experience to immediately jump in and do what they’re asking. He thanked the Eaton Alumni Association for donating $300 to help get their Robotics Club started.
Doug Marshall, Principal at Delta Middle School, informed everyone the middle school robotics team competed over the weekend and came in 10th out of 32 teams. He congratulated them and is looking forward to the rest of the season. Mr. Marshall stated he has a recommendation for Mr. Criswell to be the athletic director and he’s looking forward to working alongside him. He invited everyone to their Veterans’ Day Program this Friday at 9:00 a.m. where the choir and band will be showcased. He stated they invited local Veterans’ through email and newsletters and are hoping for a nice turnout.
Joseph Schmaltz, Principal at Albany Elementary School, stated their Robotics Team is gearing up for their second season. They’ve added a second all girls’ team so that will be fun. He invited everyone to their Veterans’ Day Program this Friday at 9:30 a.m. He stated if you can’t make the program, come around 10:45 a.m. to have lunch.
Christopher Conley, Principal at Delta High School, informed everyone fall sports has ended. He stated the girls’ basketball team has already started and beat Muncie Central last week. He stated if you come in the high school gym and look up on the northeast side of the wall where the old scoreboard used to be, there’s a sportsmanship banner the athletic department was awarded from the IHSAA for their sportsmanship score last year. He informed everyone if you have a score of 100 or above, you get a banner. He stated the cheerleaders just competed the last two weeks in competitions. State finals were held last Saturday where they finished 2nd in their division, which is the highest they’ve placed in the last 9 years. He stated the theatre program has kicked into high gear with their play “Blithe Spirit”. They will be performing at the high school on November 15th and 17th at 7:00 p.m. and a matinée on November 18th at 2:00 p.m. He stated if you’ve never had a chance to see them, they always put on a great show.

Dawn Raleigh, Delta Troupers, requests permission to sell Ads from November 2018 through May 2019, as presented. Proceeds go towards the costs of productions, equipment, materials, clothing, etc.

Angela Decker, DMS Class of 2023, 2024, and 2025, requests permission to sell shirts from November 7, 2018 through November 19, 2018, as presented. Proceeds go towards field trips.

BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS
Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for coming. He stated this meeting was a little long, but good information was given which is always nice to have. He congratulated Ms. Barnet and is looking forward to great things. He hopes she enjoys her time. He wished luck to all winter sports as they get started and is looking forward to all other extra-curricular events the kids will be involved in. He thanked everyone for the donations.
Adam Williams – Mr. Williams welcomed Mr. Engle and stated they are glad he’s here. He thanked Mr. Stebbins and Ms. Cross for their presentations and the principals for sharing what’s going on in their buildings. He stated it’s always wonderful to hear about robotics clubs, theatre, and all the events. He welcomed Ms. Barnet and thanked Mr. Criswell for stepping into the AD role at the middle school. He thanked everyone for their donations and appreciates different groups donating for different reasons.
Alice Gillis – Ms. Gillis welcomed all new hires. She praised the girls’ basketball team for their first game win and hopes they’ll have another win tonight. She complimented the cheerleaders and stated she knows from personal experience it’s not an easy job. She thanked everyone who spoke during “Communications from the Floor” and stated it’s nice to be informed about what’s happening in the buildings. She congratulated Ms. Cross on her accomplishments and certifications.
Lance Engle – Mr. Engle is thankful to have the opportunity to be on the School Board. He stated he’s a proud Delta Alum and it’s an honor to be here. He appreciates everyone being very welcoming.
John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with his fellow board members. He welcomed Ms. Barnet and is glad to have her. He thanked all new hires, people who have switched roles, and employees who have left. He stated we have a lot of moving parts from cheerleaders to fall sports and all the things that go on at a school the size we are. There are a lot of people doing different things at different times and there’s always something going on. He stated if you drive past Delta High School, there’s always something going on and that just means a lot of people are dedicated to our kids and he appreciates that. He welcomed Mr. Engle. He’s glad to have him and is looking forward to working with him and serving the community with great honor. Mr. Adams stated there are a lot of good things that come with being on the School Board. He appreciates the Veterans’ Day Programs and thanked all who put those on because it means a lot to Veterans’.

A regular meeting for the Board of School Trustees is scheduled for Tuesday, November 20, 2018 at 6:30 p.m. at the Administration Building.
