  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

Adam Williams – Mr. Williams thanked everyone for coming.  He mentioned the donations and stated we don’t take those for granted; they are so appreciated. They are wonderful contributions and he’s sure we will find great use for.  He stated the trykes that are on showcase tonight are neat to see and it will be even more fun to see them in use.  He’s excited about what they can bring because a lot of our students are in need of those.  He thanked everyone involved in getting that accomplished.  Mr. Adams welcomed Mr. Blakely and stated it’s wonderful to have him here and wonderful he chose Delta.  It’s not just us picking him, he chose to apply at our school and be a part of this community.  He stated it’s appreciated, we have great hopes and high expectations, and he’s sure Mr. Blakely will do a wonderful job.  Mr. Williams commented on the referrals at the high school Mr. Conley informed everyone about.  He stated it’s a significant change of numbers over a 7 year course.  He loves that the students take pride in who they are and how they present themselves in the community.  You don’t get to that big of a change without a lot of effort.  He applauds all students and hopes that tradition continues.

Tyce Stebbins – Mr. Stebbins stated it’s nice to have so many people here tonight. He was impressed with the respectfulness of the kids at graduation.  He thinks they have to still be kids, but at the same time, it was nice to see them acting well and that’s a credit to Mr. Conley.  He’s glad the 10 individuals got into kindergarten at Royerton.  He feels bad for the other 6 families, but he hopes things work out well for them and they can make their way to Eaton or Albany so they find a great place as well.  He thanked Mr. Miller from Schmidt for coming in.  He stated the donations are incredible and remembers when we first started talking about the trykes.  He said those are neat to see and thanked RAC Trykes for coming to the meeting and bringing those along.  He envisions those fitting in well with the school.  Mr.  Stebbins stated he had Ms. Stewart a couple years ago in first grade and she is one of the best.  She was a great piece of Royerton Elementary and he’s sure Mr. Marshall would agree.  He welcomed all new hires.  He informed Mr. Blakely that Eaton is a neat building.  He wished Mr. Blakely the best of luck and is glad to have him on board.

Alice Gillis – Ms. Gillis thanked Mr. Adams and Mr. Mann for all their work on the NEOLA Policies.  She knows it took a lot of time and effort and we need that material.  She thanked Mr. Conley for allowing the Board to participate in graduation.  She knows a lot of time and effort goes into that.  It went smoothly and the students behaved respectfully.  She informed everyone she had the privilege of attending the Blended Learning Summit and it really made our corporation stand out.  She stated Dr. Gullion, Julie Brown, Greg Kile, Scott Gard, and Lindsey Thompson put a lot of time and energy to get the Grant accomplished and then they had many participants from our corporation.  A lot of teachers participated in the general and break-out sessions.  She stated is was very well done and hopes it’s something we will repeat in the future.  She thanked Mr. Clark for his willingness to be a team player.  She wished good luck to Ms. Clark at Eaton.  Ms. Gillis is excited to welcome Mr. Blakely.  She wished him good luck and hopes he has a long and successful career here.  She wished good luck to Mr. Kile in his new endeavor at the middle school with curriculum.  She thinks it’s something we definitely need.  Ms. Gillis is thankful for the trykes and stated it’s a welcomed addition to our corporation.

John Adams – Mr. Adams concurred with his fellow board members.  He commented this may be the largest June meeting we’ve had in a long time and thanked everyone for coming.  He feels like it was only a few meetings ago we got introduced to the trykes.  He thanked those involved who made this happen and stated it’s greatly appreciated. He thanked RAC Trykes for allowing DelCom to be a part of this process and helping our kids.  He stated graduation was near and dear to his heart due to his daughter graduating.  She is moving on into the Special Education program at Ball State and they are very excited.  He thinks they are a great class and have a lot of good kids.   He gave a shout-out to those going into the Military.  He greatly appreciates them wanting to serve our country and thinks it’s tremendous we have students who want to do that.  The standing ovation they got was well deserved.  He commented on Ms. Stewart’s retirement and stated you always hate to lose one, but retirement is something we all try to strive for at some point.  He stated it gives an opportunity for a younger one to get their career started.  You leave it better than you found it and then someone else can pick it up from there and make it even better.  He wanted to mention boys’ golf winning the sectional championship.  He stated it was an outstanding effort and wished them luck on Thursday at the Players Club at 8:00 a.m.  They have worked really hard, they didn’t lose a dual match all year and that is outstanding.  He gave a shout-out to the baseball team.  They gave their all, but came up a little short in the end at the final game.  Mr. Adams has heard a lot of great things about Mr. Blakely and is thankful he has chosen to come back into education with our corporation.  Mr. Adams stated we are a great school corporation with great leadership, great administrative teams, and he can’t wait to see what Mr. Blakely can bring and add to the table.  Mr. Adams stated he and Mr. Mann discussed all the data work Mr. Blakely has done over the years.  He thinks it makes the Eaton team even more strong to have Mr. Blakely a part of that.  He welcomed all new hires and stated transportation has been working hard.  He thanked Mr. Clark for stepping up and helping out these last few years when we needed it.  He informed Mr. Clark it hasn’t gone unnoticed and thanked him for what he’s brought to the table.  He welcomed Ms. Clark into the DelCom family with her new role.  Mr. Adams greatly appreciates all donations.  He stated this community always steps up because there’s never a meeting that goes by where we don’t have a donation from someone.

Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for coming and spending their evening with us.  He commented when there is hardly anyone here, we always wish there were more. He stated the trykes donation is awesome.  He’s looking forward to getting those put to use and watching the kids utilize them and hopefully develop some motor skills that maybe they didn’t have before.  He stated they love to talk about donations because it’s one of the ways we keep functioning, moving forward, and doing the things we are able to do.  This is due to all the donations we are able to bring in and that have been given to us.  He said the state doesn’t give us all the funding we need so it’s nice to have support outside as well.  He congratulated all new hires and stated he’s looking forward to what they’re going to bring and how they’re going to help our kids grow and develop to become young men and women throughout our society.  He stated ultimately what we are all here for is to try to develop and get them to move forward in life.  He thanked them for allowing us to bring them on.  Mr. Fox knows Mr. Conley already thanked Jodi Cook, but he would like to reiterate that.  She does a ton of work and keeps everyone in line as far as what they need to do and how they need to do it and he greatly appreciates that.  He’s looking forward to the summer and hopes everyone can have some time off, relax, and get ready for August because it will be here before we know it.
