  1. LETTERS/NOTES

  1. BOARD MEMBER COMMENTS

Adam Williams – Mr. Williams thanked everyone for coming.  He welcomed Mrs. Andry.  He stated several sports are wrapping up and going into competitions.  He stated wrestling finished up their season with great Delta representation and he appreciates the hard work they do and the quality personality they represent for Delta.  He appreciates the fact they had the opportunity this year to do what they enjoy.  He congratulated the high school boys’ swimming and diving team and wished all who are moving forward the best of luck.  He congratulated the boys’ basketball team on the HHC Conference Title, the middle school boys’ for second in County for swimming and diving and middle school girls’ swimming and diving for Delaware County Champions.  He is so happy the students were able to participate and compete in the sports they enjoy and giving them an opportunity for growth and learning.  He stated it is something wonderful we are able to offer at Delta and it’s been so nice to see that.  He stated they’ve had the band at the last two home games and it shows they really enjoy what they are doing.  He appreciates that opportunity as well.  He congratulated those who won and are moving forward for Spelling Bees.  He mentioned Mr. Zgunda and appreciates his many years of service to Delta and the pride he has had.  Mr. Williams wished him well on his next steps.  He stated for all those leaving, he appreciates what they’ve done for Delta.  He stated donations are great because revenue has been difficult for a lot of these groups so it’s wonderful that people can step up to help the kids be able to do more.

John Adams – Mr. Adams thanked everyone for coming.  He congratulated Mrs. Andry and stated he is glad to have her.  He stated with the sub pay increase, we are going from the bottom of the list to the top of the list.  He thinks that’s just who we are and stated we probably should have done this a while back, but is glad we are able to do it now.  He thanked those who are leaving, whether that’s the AD who is moving on to coach football at another school or maintenance folks.  He stated even though they may not be in the room with kids all day, they still affect our kids in some way.  He thanked Mrs. Lewman for bringing up Mr. Stebbins and his maintenance crew.  He stated when you get this kind of snow, it’s not easy to deal with because there are several inches and it takes a little more work.  He informed everyone he spoke to Mr. Stebbins this weekend and he was over at Royerton three times in one day just because it had to be done.  He gave kudos to him and his team for getting all that done and making sure entrances and walkways were clear to keep people safe to the best of our ability.  He’s thankful they take that job serious and try to keep everyone safe.  He stated Spelling Bees are special times for kids and congratulated all who are moving on.  He stated for them to represent their school well, have fun, and enjoy it.  He stated we have another meeting with another set of donations.  He commented we have a great community and support system with folks who are willing to throw some dollars our way to help kids and it’s nice to see.  He stated he knows other board members at other schools and they don’t get to see that kind of thing, but it’s pretty common for us to accept donations at every meeting. He stated it’s a great accomplishment and means we are doing things right and our patrons are supporting our kids in different ways.

Jacob Case – Mr. Case thanked everyone for coming.  He welcomed Mrs. Andry to the DelCom family.  He stated tonight’s donations are the most he’s seen since he’s been on the Board. He stated it’s awesome and he loves that we have a lot of people out there who support the schools and it shows.  He congratulated all sports who have finished up.  He congratulated the wrestlers and boys’ and girls’ swimming team at Delta Middle School, especially the girls because his daughter is on the team and he watched them this weekend.

Lance Engle – Mr. Engle welcomed Mrs. Andry to Delta.  He hopes she does well here and has great success.  He thanked Mr. Zgunda for all his time and service here at Delta High School.  He stated he’s touched a lot of families and meant a lot to kids with everything he’s done with football, as athletic director, and teaching.  He wished him nothing but the best.  He congratulated the basketball team for HHC Conference Champions and commented it was a great season by Coach Detweiler and the team.  He wished them the best in Sectionals.  He wished good luck to all Spelling Bee winners and stated it’s an exciting time in elementary to watch fellow students compete.  He stated it gets pretty tense at the end when you get down to the last 3-5 students and murmurs start to go up  a little bit with each passing word and that’s always exciting.

Trent Fox – Mr. Fox thanked everyone for being here.  He congratulated Mrs. Andry and is looking forward to hearing great things from her.  He stated it’s always exciting to have new people come in who hopefully have new ideas that maybe others haven’t thought about.  He hopes she feels comfortable enough to share those ideas and stated we always look for those new things to move us forward as a corporation as well.  He stated Spelling Bees are awesome and he knows little kids love doing it.  He stated it’s exciting for those getting to move on to Regionals because they get to show the knowledge they have.  He commented this time of year isn’t fun for maintenance and custodial staff.  He stated they put down salt and that ends up in the buildings and then they have to turn around and clean inside of the buildings.  He appreciates the time and effort they put in and appreciates all bus drivers.  He stated this is not the best year to be driving a bus either because the corners are not great.  He appreciates the time and effort they take to run the routes and get our kids to school safely and on time.  He also appreciates the efforts everyone has put in through this time frame.  He knows we’ve had some extra eLearning days in there and appreciates everyone’s patience and understanding on getting through that and helping our kids learn through the process of either being in school or at home.
